“I am writing to enquire about the process at your school when a parent notifies you that a child is to be home educated and requests that the child’s name be deleted from the school roll.

update on Kent policy April 22nd

Update 1, April 28th: I’ve spoken to barrister Ian Dowty about the draft policy and he says the draft policy as stands is unlawful in identifying categories rather than treating each family as individual

Ofsted new guidance about home education to inspectors

At the end of March 2015 I received a message from Matthew Brazier (Ofsted’s social care policy team) saying that Ofsted has provided inspectors with new advice and guidance about elective home education, covering the following points:

On January 28th 2015 Kent County Council Cabinet approved a new elective home education [EHE] policy. The policy can be found here (extract from the Agenda and Reports Pack for the Cabinet meeting on January 28th)
