Schools Bill What Does Means Mean plus Forum/Panel New Guidance

A number of government amendments mitigating the compulsory registration of children not in school [CNIS] were passed at the end of Schools Bill Report stage in the House of Lords on July 18th. The Bill has been reprinted incorporating changes made during Report and clause 49 below (originally cl 48) is now clause 33.

Part 3 Schools Bill – Compulsory Registration – Getting Amended House of Lords Today

Today is the 2nd (and currently final) day of Report for the Schools Bill in the House of Lords. The next stage – Third Reading – was at one point proposed for just before recess but now seems to be put back to September. Clauses setting out the compulsory registration of children not in school can be found at the start of Part 3 which is what peers will be scrutinising – and amending (ie changing) – this afternoon. Schools Bill What The Heck Happened in the Lords Last Night

Government Amendments to CNIS Register make it Less Bad

This post sets out my interpretation of the government’s amendments to the Children Not In School Register which at the time of writing are scheduled to be discussed at Report in the House of Lords on July 18th 2022. The Bill will be reprinted after it finishes in the Lords to incorporate amendments carried in the Lords and as explained here, government amendments always go through. This post gives a preview what the CNIS clauses will look like with amendments. Government Amending CNIS Register Schools Bill

Amendments to the CNIS Register for Report stage have been put forward by the Education Minister in the Lords. Report is currently scheduled for July 12th and 18th and the proposals for compulsory registration of children not in school are currently to be found at clause 49 onwards, although this numbering will change again once earlier clauses are removed as the government has said re 1-18.
